Beautiful Édouard Cortès Parisian street scene up for auction
Hi, I’m Katy Alexander with Vogt Auction in
San Antonio. And I want to share with you the highlight
of our Summer Luxury Estates Auction, which is coming up on July 2nd. We have a number of really great artworks
in this sale. American and European, we’ve got a painting
by Guy Wiggins, we’ve got some really great pieces, but I think the star of the show is
this painting from Edouard Cortès. And Edouard Cortès is the artist who popularized
the Parisian street scene. This painting, “Porte St. Denis,” is an incredible
piece for a number of reasons. The painting has been professionally restored.
And it will be included Brian Roughton’s upcoming Catalogue Raisonné on the artist. So this will be a published work of art in the
artist’s catalogue. And what is really exceptional about this
painting is its size. Most of Cortès’ paintings are in a 13 x 18
scale. This painting is 18 x 21, so it’s a larger
size — has a great presence. I think would make a spectacular addition to any collection.
