Manchester United are optimistic that they
will conclude a deal for Bruno Fernandes and according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira,
personal terms are all agreed. BrunoFernandes has agreed personal terms with
ManchesterUnited for a contract until 2025 with a wages of €6M a year as he nears a
move from Sporting,” he tweeted. “The clubs are in talks to finalize the
deal in the next days. United and Sporting held positive talks on
Friday in London, with the Red Devils understood to be preparing a bid of around £65m. Rumours amongst United fans began to circulate
over the weekend after snaps of a mystery arrival at Carrington were leaked online. Many fans believed this was Neves, a player
United are understood to have an interest in. However, according to Goal, the Wolves midfielder
isn’t keen on a move to Old Trafford should a bid surface. Luckily for United, they have plenty of other
midfield targets including compatriot Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, James Maddison, Sean Longstaff
and Jack Grealish. Express Sport understands that United have
offered Angel Gomes, Joel Pereira and Marcos Rojo to Sporting as part of a potential swap
deal for Fernandes. However, Sporting have said no and are insistent
they only want cash for their captain. Fernandes is valued at £65m and United are
keen to include some players as part of the deal to try and bring down the price. United signed Rojo from Sporting in 2014,
so there is every reason why he may be open to a return to Lisbon. United look to have finally made their first
move for Fernandes and it looks like two other European giants forced their hand. According to the Daily Star, United decided
to move for Fernandes because they feared Barcelona or Juventus could snatch the deal. Fernandes is a player that the Old Trafford
hierarchy have admired for a while, but they are still adamant they did not want to sign
the 25-year-old last summer. Sporting are now open to selling their captain
after encountering some financial difficulty.
