CleanGuru – Be the ONLY Bidder

CleanGuru – Be the ONLY Bidder

Hi Dan again from CleanGuru and today’s message, avoid unnecessary
conflict. You know I was reading online, I think it
was Wikipedia or somewhere about animals in
nature, and I think it was cheetahs and gazelles and Jaguars. It talked about how a lot of
animals in nature have different postures and
gestures to avoid conflict with other animals. Other than when they’re hunting they’re not looking, I guess they’re not
looking for trouble, they’re really only wanting to hunt, other than that, they don’t want to risk
unnecessary conflict with other animals. It went on to explain why. It takes a
lot of energy when animals are fighting, and also can
create injury which can compromise their ability to hunt, all those kinds of things. In fact it talked about Cheetahs, I was reading about them, that they hunt during the day. Most of those animals hunt at night, the
cheetahs do it during the day because it helps them avoid having to compete and worry about other larger
predators that hunt at night. So again trying to
avoid unnecessary conflict. What in the world does that have to do
with cleaning? Well it can be a lot. In the early years tony and I were
obsessed about competing with all of our competitors. We needed to know everything about them, how much did they pay, how do they organize their cleaning, who
did they hire, how did they bid, what price did they come in at? All the
things you worry about your competition. Now it’s okay to know what’s going on with
your competition, but not to the extent that it’s hurting your own cleaning company. We did it seemed much better, when we
started to focus on what we could do differently rather than what our competition was doing. So that really helped a lot. Let’s
look at an example. To avoid unnecessary conflict with
competition. we thought well how can we be maybe the only bidder, or maybe just one
of a few companies bidding on an account. So what we didn’t want to do is just
wait for a prospect to call us from some list or a website and they were just gathering bids. I think we’ve talked about this before,
we wanted to be maybe the only person bidding, to avoid conflict. Now how can we do that? Well we found out who the prospects were, we contacted those buildings directly with a very powerful message, and eventually over time they would
start to call us, sometimes what would you say out of the
blue when there was no other competition. When we could deliver a proposal when no one else was, when no one else was by delivering one,
we had a very good chance of getting that job. So again avoiding unnecessary conflict just like in nature. Hope that helps. Hope it helps your cleaning company. Until next time remember that you can do
this, you really can!
