Oman bids tearful farewell to his majesty Sultan Qaboos bin said

Oman ruler Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed passes
away He was 79 years old. The Omani media reported that the death occurred
on Friday evening. He was diagnosed with cancer in Belgium and
returned to Oman last month. Following the demise of Sultan Qaboos, a three-day
official mourning was announced in Oman. The national flag is lowered for 40 days. On July 23, 1970, Sultan Qaboos bin Zayed
became the eighth ruler of the Buzidi dynasty. He was born in Salalah on November 18, 1940,
the only son of Sultan Saeed bin Taimur and Princess Masoon al-Mashani. He had his primary education in Pune and Salalah. Former President Shankar Daryl Sharma was
his teacher. Sultan Qaboos was the ruler who had always
had a special relationship with India. From the Standard Military Academy in London,
he specialized in modern warfare. He then served one year in the Infantry Battalion
in West Germany. He returned to London and pursued higher studies
in administrative and political science. The first thing he did after his ascent was
to change the name of the country. Renamed Muscat and Oman, the Sultanate of
Oman.
