hello namaste salaamwalekum satsriyakaal; welcome back to another session with your VahChef at Vahrehvah.com. Today I’m going to show you another tamarind rice
of course i’m going to add a little bit of coconut in this but the tamarind is a trick because this is one of the tastiest tamarind rice you can ever eat, for this i’m not going
to use the ripe tamarind remove the juice of the pulp out of it and add this
is the tender tamarind you know when these tamarind come they make a lot of dishes with this but i’m just going to show you another just tamarind rice with
this don’t so i’m going to put all of this in a blender and grind it coarsely
lot of times in the villages they put in the stone ding chik ding chik and crush it but we can do it in the blender also easy now my the tamarind is nicely coarsely
ground now I’m going to take oil not any oil i’m going to take sesame seed
oil because that makes this even more tasty once the oil is nice and hot we’re going to add mustard seeds you all know how to make the tamarind rice regular tamarind rice so we’re going to follow the similar recipe so we’re going to wait till the mustard seeds splutter, when the mustard seeds splutter, we’re going to add red chilli just let this red chilli bleeds some of the nice aroma and the flavor into this now we’re going to add peanuts and reduce the flame little bit we want to
make sure that the peanuts are not burnt and they cook while the peanuts getting good you know add lentils like chana dal and also urad dal wash so that you
know we get some crunchy effect for this once the chana dal also get slightly colored we’re going to add urad dal wash that is the black gram split blackgram now we’re going to add green chilli, hing and turmeric and lot of curry leaves wow I love this I love this spluttering noise ok now we’re going to add the ground of the raw tender tamarind and saute it also haha this is good this is good this is good this is good also add salt ok and just make sure that mix this
nicely now in this i’m going to add very little of freshly grated coconut it is up to you if you want to add it i just love it to add some extra punch to my
puliyodarai or tender tamarind and in this i’m going to add the rice and
mix now look at the tamarind plant it is let me switch off the flame think of
the tamarind plant the tender tamarind is used in making a lot of different kind
of pickles and chutneys which i’m going to show you a lot more available in the
market now and also the leaf i love it especially during the summers you get
the leaf and you make a lot of preparation specially I love meat, prawns and other things using tender tamarind leaf and the ripe tamarind you all know we love to make pulp without the tamarind the sambar, the great of rasams, chutneys will not be done so this is all done and ready to serve and how is this rice different from the other sour rices we make this has lot more earthly flavors, the skin of the tender tamarind has some kind of you know crunchiness to it and that we will add to this and that’s what will make this very special, dear friends considered to be very healthy and very nice try it and enjoy it because this is
very very good wow really nice but do not forget vahrehvah is all about inspiring others to cook so please post your recipes and
cooking tips at vahrehvah.com so others can benefit from your great cooking thank you
