World’s most expensive car: $38m Ferrari breaks car auction record
Ladies and gentlemen. 14 million.
15 million. 16 million.
17 million. 18 million.
20 million. Speeding up almost as fast as the car itself,
bids for a Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta sky rocket in California until eventually reaching
38.1 million dollars – the world record for a car sold at auction. You have a car! The car was once involved in a fatal accident,
but that didn’t seem to deter the mystery bidder, with the price surpassing the $30
million paid last year for a 1954 Mercedes Benz. The 19th 250 GTO Berlinetta made by Ferrari,
the car was first owned by French racing driver Jo Schlesser, but since 1965 has been owned
by Fabrizio Violati, who saved it from scrap. And after reaching nearly 40 million dollars
this week, that’s quite some scrap.
